Contempt of Court – when a Court Order or undertaking is broken, this disrespect for the Court’s authority is referred to as contempt of court. The Court can punish the person for their behaviour by committal or fine.
Contempt in the face of the Court is when someone does not break an Order but they behave badly or inappropriately in the courtroom in front of a member of the judiciary. The opportunity to receive a fine or imprisonment is available in this instance.
